Our history with antique jewelry sales and service.

Small Pleasures traces its roots to a tiny store opened on Cape Cod in the early seventies selling antique jewelry. After managing the store for several years, Shelley Hullar was offered a job at Christie's Auction House in New York City. It was there that she did her gemological studies and fine tuned her interest in and knowledge of antique jewelry. She eventually became head of the jewelry department at Christie's East and was the first woman to be invited by the company to become an auctioneer.

Small Pleasures opened its original Boston store in the Copely Plaza Hotel in 1982. In 1989, it relocated to Newbury Street in Boston's historic Back Bay.

It was there in 1995 that Dan MacClain joined Shelley in a new partnership. Dan came from California with a strong background in running his own retail and wholesale operation with a broader spectrum of antiques. The business expanded into wholesaling and eventually, in 1998, opened a second location in Boston's Financial District on State St., also selling antique jewelry and vintage watches.
